Watercolor artist, Sandy Wisecup and Cowgirl Poet, Sydney Johnson
are currently working on a book featuring Sandy's watercolor paintings and
Sydney's cowgirl poetry.
"Sisters In Saddles" is a tribute to cowgirls, to love for the West and for the horses that play a major roll in the lives of all 'cowgirls'. Both Author and Artist's passion is evident in this compilation of visual and verbal love letters about the life each lives and treasures.
Sydney V. Johnson, a working cowgirl, lives a lifestyle that hasn't changed
much from the ways of the original cowboy of the West of the 1800's. She
spends her days in the saddle high in the mountains of western Colorado
during the Summer months and in the desert country of Utah through the
Winter. Long days are spent riding side by side, with her husband and
cowboy partner, Woody, tending several hundred head of cattle. The end
of each summer's day finds them at home in a small log cabin where
modern conveniences are absent. Much of Sydney's poetry is penned by
the light of a kerosene lantern and all are inspired by her life's experiences.
SandyWisecup,on the other hand, chooses to live with the comforts and conveniences of our modern times while enjoying and sharing a rural lifestyle
with her husband and partner, Roy, on their few acres in Utah. Side by side
they tend to their few head of cattle and quarter horses.
Sandy's home and studio is nestled in a small valley in central Utah,
surrounded by the awe inspiring beauty of both desert and mountain terrains
and the subjects she finds greatest pleasure in painting.
Not only are many of Sandy Wisecup's watercolor paintings inspired by her sister Sydney's Cowgirl Poetry, but Sydney is also often the Cowgirl you will
find featured in Sandy's paintings.

We're Sisters in saddles!
There's the bond we share
Ridin' with boldness 'n dare.
Sisters ridin' 'cross this land like shadows.
Sisters because of our bond in stride.
A bond held deep 'n pure in our breast.
And the bond that binds? 'Tis the Best !
That bond is, The Ride.
Sisters in saddles,
Love for the horse, love for the Ride.
Sisters in Saddles;
You can find us
all across this country wide.
